Research Associate – Protein Kinase Assays/Cell Culture

Duties Include (Not Limited to)

  • Following standard operating procedures (SOP’s) to perform assays in 96- and 384-well plates and communicating the status and results to senior staff.
  • Maintain cell lines and conduct tissue culture experiments.
  • Documenting all work in laboratory notebooks.
  • Using modern software for research, data analysis, inventory tracking, and communication.
  • Maintaining a safe lab environment by following the company’s SOPs and safety requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or an applicable science.
  • Highly motivated and self-driven - the successful candidate will be someone who can thrive in a fast-paced and interactive team environment.
  • One to three years of hands-on lab experience performing quantitative microplate-based assays using enzymes in drug potency testing or quantitative PCR or ELISA, as examples.
  • Practical knowledge of/experience with cell-based techniques and experiments.
  • Excellent laboratory technique, including accurate and precise dispensing of small volumes (1-10 uL) and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to master new techniques, find solutions and effectively multi-task to achieve goals efficiently, with training provided as needed by senior personnel.
  • Excellent computer software use skills including Microsoft Office. Knowledge of scientific/data analysis software a plus.
  • Demonstrated organizational, documentation and oral communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as a team, as appropriate.

Preferred Skills & Experience (Not Required)

The ideal candidate should have one or more of the following:

  • Practical knowledge of fluorescence-based activity assays to assess enzyme kinetics and drug potency including use of data analysis software.
  • Familiarity with modern automation instrumentation and software.
  • Industry experience with demonstrated productivity running enzyme inhibitor assays for the drug discovery workflow.
