Scientific Project Manager

AssayQuant Technologies has an exciting Life Science opportunity to join our rapidly growing team as a Scientific Project Manager. In this role, you will provide leadership in project management across functions to enable our development of novel Protein Kinase activity assays and offering Custom Testing Services to our rapidly growing list of clients. Our innovative and patented fluorescence-based sensor technology is a game-changer and is exclusively licensed from MIT. This position is located in Marlboro, MA. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Manage custom testing projects for clients to enable rapid decision making and resource allocation.
  • Monitor progress of internal and external projects and report weekly to the Leadership Team to meet scientific, operational, and commercial goals.
  • Liaise with relevant teams, clients, and managers for the duration of scientific projects.
  • Help the Leadership team with identifying resource management issues and planning for growth in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Conduct research on scientific project management trends and contribute to AQT’s Continuous Improvements.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with scientists, clients, and other professionals internally and externally in a global environment.
  • Keep up to date on scientific project management developments, best practices, and apply them to AQT projects.
  • Serve as admin and power-user for AQT’s SmartSheet and other related software.
  • Build and manage metrics and dashboards for monitoring internal and external projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in biological or chemical sciences, engineering, etc.
  • 3 or more years hands-on experience managing small and medium scale projects, achieving project-driven goals, and adhering to timelines in a fast-paced startup environment. 
  • Strong team building experience including effective communication, project management, conflict resolution and critical path thinking to deliver projects on time, on target and on budget.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Cloud file sharing, and Project Management software.
  • Working knowledge in data analysis and reporting to provide accurate and streamlined results.
  • Highly motivated and self-driven, with ability to work independently and in cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, written and oral communication skills including effectively working with internal and external customers to define/monitor projects and priorities.
  • A project management leader with meticulous attention to detail to help the scientific, profiling, and commercial teams efficiently complete their tasks, under budget, and on time.

Desired Qualifications

  • Practical knowledge of fluorescence-based kinetic (continuous) activity assays using peptide substrates to assess enzyme kinetics (enzymology) and drug potency with high-profile targets.
  • Strong leadership skills allowing effective integration of new targets, target classes, techniques & processes to drive business performance.
  • Experience working within Contract Research Organizations (CROs), Manufacturing, and Sample Management.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication with the ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with meeting tight deadlines and managing across functions to meet project timelines.
  • Knowledge of lean six sigma practices.
  • Certification as a project management professional

Physical/Environment

  • Position responsibilities are performed in a regular office environment or remotely.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and standard office equipment, either sitting or standing for long periods of time.
