AssayQuant Technologies, Inc., has an exciting Life Science opportunity to join our rapidly growing team responsible for Assembling/Functional Testing of novel enzyme activity assay kits and bulk peptide sensors. Our innovative and patented fluorescence-based sensor technology is exclusively licensed from MIT and we have a rapidly growing list of new products and services that enable our customers.

Job Summary:

The Marketing Manager’s role is to (i) create tactical marketing plans, coordinate and execute marketing programs, including determining the demand for products and services offered by the Company and its competitors and developing and leveraging branding and associated market collateral, as well as the website; (ii) develop pricing strategies with the goal of maximizing the Company’s profits and market share, while ensuring that Company customers are satisfied; and (iii) identify opportunities for development of new products and services, including determining customer needs, anticipated demand, and identifying target market segments. This position requires that a candidate have a science degree and marketing experience in a life science company, preferably a life science tools company. 


  • Rapidly develop and maintain a strong understanding of the Company’s capabilities (technical and otherwise), the Company’s underlying technology portfolio, the Company’s products, the steps and stages of Company’s services, points of differentiation between Company and its competition’s capabilities and technology, and the value proposition associated with the Company’s products and services in key market segments.

  • Rapidly become familiar with the distinction between Company information that can be shared with customers and information that is trade secret and maintain the confidentiality of such information in accordance with guidance provided by senior management and Company legal counsel.
  • Utilize marketing expertise to develop and execute an annual strategic and tactical marketing plan, including designing and generating clear, well thought out communications for internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Have primary responsibility for creating content that captures important technology and product developments to position in multiple media formats to drive web traffic, conversions and sales.
  • Have primary responsibility for ensuring the timely preparation and dissemination of the Company newsletter, blogs, and other designated out-going marketing communications, including increasing distribution through increasing the size and quality of the Company’s customer list.
  • Have primary responsibility for the Company’s website, including its format, organization, look and feel, branding, content, and leveraging of search engines to optimize web related traffic, with the goal of driving sales and profit for the Company.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, competitor capabilities and technologies, products and/or services, potentially useful technology for Company to consider in-licensing, applications of Company products and technologies, opportunities for technology development to enhance Company’s intellectual property and/or capabilities portfolio, etc. and communicate information learned in a timely fashion to management, utilizing regular operating mechanisms.
  • Propose new products and services for the Company to develop and offer, based on assessment of market needs and opportunities, including identifying applicable market segments, messaging to derive maximal value for the Company, pricing, and thorough understanding of customer needs.
  • Develop, execute, and continue to evolve a Company branding strategy.
  • Perform all assigned work within established and agreed timelines and budgets, promptly and proactively informing management of any anticipated delays, variances, or problems.
  • As assigned, determine the root causes of customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
  • Maintain accurate activity records in accordance with guidance from senior management, leveraging existing company software and databases. Provide regular activity and results reports in accordance with direction from senior management, including activities and results from the previous period and plans for the coming period.
  • Perform other tasks as needed by the Company.


  • A degree in a life science field plus at least two years of laboratory experience in a biotechnology, life science tools or pharmaceutical company performing research and development as well as three years’ experience in marketing at a life science company.
  • Expert knowledge of life science markets and biochemistry terminology and techniques, particularly in the drug discovery marketplace, is essential. Experience with marketing either from a go-to-market or product management perspective at a life science tools company is essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the drug discovery and development process, including biochemical and cell-based assay development and deployment, candidate library properties, and lead identification, profiling and optimization is essential. A comprehensive understanding of the role that contract research organizations, and that providers of services, reagents, and kits play in this process is essential.
  • Understanding of the kinase assay market, including vendors, products, services, and technologies in common use is strongly desired. Deep understanding of the key market segments of large, mid-size and small pharma and biopharma companies, government laboratories, and academic laboratories is also strongly desired.
  • Current knowledge of latest trends and best practices in marketing and measurement, including online marketing.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and internet search programs. Experience and expertise with a customer relationship management (CRM) software system is strongly preferred. Solid knowledge of website analytics tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, including ability to work in teams and with people of all ages, genders, ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision. Must have strong initiative, and a willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.

  • Position responsibilities are performed in a regular office environment or remotely.

  • Travel via airline and auto to various locations including corporate office, if working remotely, and customer sites is required.      

  • Ability to operate a personal computer and standard office equipment, either sitting or standing for long periods of time.
